What do we believe?
We believe that the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God, the only infallible rule for faith and life. The Bible is central to our faith. The central theme of the Bible is God's love for you and the entire world. We believe it is God's Word, and a tool we can use to learn more about God
We affirm three creeds—the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed—as ecumenical expressions of the Christian faith. A quick look at the structure of the Apostles’ Creed reveals one of the bedrock truths of the Christian faith: the Trinity. The creed is divided into three parts: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. All Christians believe that the Bible reveals one God in three “persons.” In other words, God is a perfect community of love.
We also affirm three confessions—the Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism, and the Canons of Dort—as historic Reformed expressions of the Christian faith, whose doctrines fully agree with the Word of God.
Along with these historic creeds and confessions, we recognize the witness of Our World Belongs to God: A Contemporary Testimony, adopted by synod as a current Reformed expression of the Christian faith, and the Belhar Confession, adopted by synod as an ecumenical faith declaration.
